Bandar Udara Douw Aturure Nabire Papua Indonesia

After being inaugurated in November 2023, today, Thursday (22/2) Douw Aturure Nabire Airport began operating fully at 09.00 WIT. This operation is in accordance with the provisions of the Aeronautical Information Publication (AIP) which is recorded, and also officially closes the old Nabire Airport.

The Director General of Air Transportation (Ditjen Hubud) of the Ministry of Transportation, M. Kristi Endah Murni in Jakarta expressed her appreciation and support from the relevant ministries/institutions as well as the Provincial Government, Regency Government, Provincial DPRD and Central Papua Regency DPRD who have worked well together for the smooth transfer and operation of the Airport from the Old Nabire Airport to Douw Aturure Airport.

"Thank you for the support of all parties so that today Douw Aturure Nabire Airport can operate fully. Hopefully it will be useful to accommodate more community needs for air transportation services, and further open up accessibility for people in disadvantaged, remote, outermost border areas (3TP). Let's work together to maintain and participate in creating flight safety and security," said Kristi.

Douw Aturure Airport was built with a runway size of 1,600 x 30 meters, an apron size of 367.5 x 100 meters so that it can be landed by ATR 72 type aircraft. For the passenger terminal, this airport has a terminal area of ​​6,320 m2 which can accommodate a capacity of up to 287,000 passengers per year.

Separately, Plt. Head of the Douw Aturure Airport Management Unit (UPBU), Juprianto Pali said, Douw Aturure Airport will serve pioneer round-trip flights (pp) with Smart Aviation airlines for the Nabire-Enarotali, Nabire-Illu, Nabire-Mulia, Nabire-Faowi, Nabire-Ilaga, Nabire-Waghete, and Nabire-Bilorai routes. Meanwhile, Wings Air airlines serve the Nabire-Rendani, Nabire-Timika, and Nabire-Sentani routes.

"Before moving the flight operations, we have conducted a coordination meeting with all relevant stakeholders, including the Central Papua Provincial Government and the Nabire Regency Government. We have ensured the readiness of Airnav Indonesia, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), Pertamina Depot, PLN, Telkom, Security, Transportation Agency, and the availability of clean water at Douw Aturure Nabire Airport," concluded Juprianto.
